James Nachtwey won the TED Prize for 2007 and his acceptance speech was recorded. At more than 20 minutes in length, it will take some time to get through - but it is well worth the effort as he talks about the stories he has told and why he believes in their importance. The TED Conference (named for it's topics of Technology, Entertainment and Design) meets each year and brings together industry leaders to work on solving problems.
