More on Bokeh

I mentioned this concept of "bokeh" in class the other day - the term for how a lens renders the out-of-focus areas in an image. (I think I likened it to trying to explain to a high school friend why the silence of CDs was important in 1986 ... he kept asking why anyone was paying attention to the time between tracks ...)

ANYWAY ... The Online Photographer has a nice bit up about bad bokeh.

did you see this comment on the site -

"Hi Mike,
this crop you showed is a pretty strong picture. Well done. Recently, I actually found that massive cropping, I mean like eliminating 90% of the picture, can extract very interesting images out of otherwise rather bland sceneries.

yeah. eliminating 90% of an image just might be able to make up for someone being a horrible photographer, like .1% of the time.

not related to the bokeh subject, but worth mentioning - if your images aren't good enough, you're not close enough!!!!!
